99+ Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate (August 2015)

A candidate for perfection with a few more years of bottle age, this great vintage of Angelus has an almost impenetrable black/purple color and a gorgeous nose of incense, graphite, blackberry liqueur, truffles and spring flowers. The wine is full-bodied, with a voluptuous texture a magnificent concentration and purity of fruit, a stunning finish of close to a minute, and wonderfully sweet, velvety tannins that make for a prodigious Angelus that should turn out to be one of the all-time greats ever made at this estate. Drink it over the next 25-50 years.

95 Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (July 2012)

Deep, saturated ruby to the rim. Superripe, high-toned aromas of kirsch and dark chocolate. Large-scaled, ripe and chocolatey, conveying a distinctly exotic character and an impression of power.

Finishes with huge but ripe tannins and a lingering note of mocha. For the first 24 hours in the bottle the vintage dominated the wine's cabernet franc character, but eventually blackberry, violet and licorice elements emerged. Built for a long life in bottle.

98+ Jeb Dunnuck, (November 2017)

To compare with the 2015, proprietor Hubert de Boüard opened a bottle of his 2009 Angelus and the similarities between the two vintages are obvious. It too is a massive, opulent, full-bodied effort that’s loaded with notions of blackberry liqueur, chocolate, roasted herbs and licorice, and it has a sexy, layered style that just begs to be drunk. This monster Saint-Emilion checks in just behind the otherworldly 2005 and is neck and neck with the 2015, both of which are young and need bottle age.
